Top 4 Healthy Lifestyle Tips
Hi <>,
Are you following these 4 tips?
If you're not, then there's very little chance of successfully sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Many people tend to prioritize these backwards or not at all, big mistake!
These tips are actually really simple, you probably already know them. But what you may not know is the (crucial) order in which they come:
1. Social Support
This is by far the biggest reason for success in reaching and MAINTAINING your fitness goals. The support from someone, anyone that can hold you accountable will be the driving force behind everything you do. No-one expects you to do it on your own, nor should you.
It's those days when you feel tired and the easy option is to lapse, when that person will say no, come on you can do this. That support is absolutely priceless and no fitness/fat loss program is worth a dime without it.
Your social support can be a friend, family member, work colleague - it can even be online, with social networks such as Twitter. I help to motivate and support over 400 (and counting) people on Twitter, you are very welcome to join me there and to "help and be helped" (if you're confused about how to use Twitter, hit reply to this email and ask me, I'll gladly walk you through it).
2. Nutrition
Yes, healthy eating comes BEFORE exercise. No matter how much you exercise, if you're constantly over filling on calories, then you won't burn fat or be healthy.
The best way to know how much you actually eat in a day, is to keep a food diary. You'll be surprised as to how many calories sneak into your mouth without you actually noticing!
This tip is crucial, so please don't skip it! Your nutrition will dictate how much fat you lose and how healthy you are (don't forget the hidden killer - cholesterol).
3. Exercise
Finally we meet exercise! You knew it had to come at some point, yes there's no escaping good ol' exercise. Humans are designed to be active, and seeing as we are no longer cavemen (and women!) nor do most of us have physically demanding jobs, most of our activity has to come with exercise.
The workouts I'm currently doing (see below) are based around high intensity exercises. These are short, intense workouts that are the MOST effective at burning fat and ending up with a sculpted body.
But that may not be what you're looking for. If it is, great check it out and get going! If not then also great, determine what your fitness goals are and find an exercise/activity that you enjoy doing. Hit reply and ask me if you need any help with figuring out your goals and how to best achieve them.
4. Write Stuff Down
I touched on this previously with the food diary, but this takes things further. I know this may seem old fashioned in the world of the computer, but honestly it helps more than you may think. Writing stuff down engages your brain. A more learn-ed friend of mine once said "Writing is the doing part of thinking" - how very true.
As well as food, write down how you feel after a workout, what motivates you, what makes you feel weak, WHY you ate 3 slices of that blackforest gateaux last week... you get the gist. You'll soon get a better idea of how your brain processes thoughts and emotions, and you'll be able to control them better.
Follow these 4 tips and you'll be well on your way to a happy healthy life. It really can be as simple as these 4 steps, it's up to you to make small changes and find that oh so important support along the way.
