Overcome Your Fear Of
Giving Up Smoking
Giving up smoking has to be your decision.
Do you want to stop smoking?
You've clicked on to this page, so chances are you do want to stop. Find out how to give up smoking and aid it with exercise.
Smokers and non-smokers all know the damaging affects of smoking. Yet people still carry on. That's the problem.
The bulk of advice is centred on why you shouldn't smoke. But the question all smokers should ask themselves is, why do I continue smoking?
Write down your answers, then carry on reading.
Fears Of Giving Up Smoking
Now take a look at your answers, and see where fear comes in. Here are 5 of the most popular answers, and the fear involved with them:It feels good - fear that you won't be able to enjoy life without it.It's comforting when I'm stressed - fear that you won't be able to cope with stress.I'm just addicted - fear that the cravings will be never-ending, and that it'll be a traumatic experience. It's stimulating - fear that you won't concentrate, or perform at work and so become short-tempered.It's just easier to carry on - fear that the whole process is going to be too difficult (which is a part of all the reasons).
Take another look at your answers, and find your fears. If you can identify the fear that keeps you smoking, then you're on your way to giving up.
The next step is removing the fear and the emotions associated with it. This is difficult to do by yourself. Those emotions causing the fear, are controlled by your unconscious mind.
That's why I think hypnosis (deep relaxation therapy), is the best method of giving up smoking (more on this further below).
Ways Of Giving Up Smoking
There are several different ways and aids to help giving up smoking. It must be said, no single method is guaranteed to be the right choice for everyone. They affect different people in different ways.
Here are the recognised methods of giving up smoking:Hypnosis.. deep relaxation therapy.Nicotine Replacement Therapy.. you have a choice of nicotine gum, nicotine patches, nicotine nasal spray, nicotine inhalers, nicotine tablets.Medication.. the 2 main prescribed medicines are Zyban and Champix. There are some serious concerns about their side effects. It's a decision between you and your doctor. You should consider the other methods before taking any medication to stop smoking.
Talk to your health professional about what may (or may not) be suitable for you. If one method doesn't work, then don't stop trying!
You'll need some sort of support whilst giving up. Tell your partner, friends and family. In times of need, you can call on them to keep motivating you.
Everyone doesn't stop smoking on their first attempt. Try a different method, keep persevering. Be motivated by the fact that if you keep trying, you will eventually succeed.
In The Spotlight - Hypnosis
My personal favourite method of giving up smoking, is hypnosis. As more and more people try it, the prejudices against hypnosis will disappear.
Many health professionals support and implement hypnosis. They realise how effective a treatment it is.
The advantages are that it doesn't involve any medication or nicotine replacement. Meaning, no harmful side effects and no continued nicotine reliance.
Hypnosis is totally focused on you, and your underlying fears. In a state of deep relaxation (not sleep), the therapist can communicate with your unconscious mind.
Your fears are removed and with them goes your need to smoke. Your physical addiction goes too. No withdrawal symptoms, no weight gain, no mood swings.
The only slight disadvantage is that you have to want to be hypnotised. If someone else forces you, it won't be effective. The decision has to be yours.
If you're worried about the price, in most cases it only takes one session to give up smoking. Look for a place that offers free support (including extra sessions) for 1 or 2 years after your initial session.
An even cheaper option is a hypnosis DVD and relaxation CD. These patented programs from Neuro-VISION are the best I've come across online.
They're totally safe and really effective. Neuro-VISION have been about for donkey's years, and have helped thousands of smokers quit (including a couple of my friends!). Whether you smoke 5 or 50-a-day, there's a program tailored for you.
You'll save hundreds compared to consultations in person, and it's just as effective. Results are guaranteed, there's a 90 day money back guarantee if you're not satisfied. Check out what the founder of Smokers Anonymous had to say about it, good luck.

My Granddad died from 40 years of smoking. He was a fighter so it took a heart bypass, stroke and cancer to finally defeat him. It's a subject close to my heart.
